Dress Smart Hornby

Bromley Steel was engaged to deliver the earthquake strengthening works for Dress Smart Hornby, one of Christchurch’s largest shopping centres. The key challenge was completing the structural upgrades without disrupting trading hours, while meeting strict regulatory and quality assurance requirements.

To achieve this, our team fabricated during the day and carried out steel installation and on-site welding overnight. Careful planning, staging, and close coordination with the main contractor ensured deadlines were met and costs were controlled, all while maintaining safe access for tenants and the public.

The strengthening works were completed without disruption to business operations. The project recorded zero safety incidents, all QA standards were met, and consistent communication was maintained throughout — demonstrating our capability to deliver complex works within live commercial environments.
